Things worth pondering

Nobody really cares if you’re miserable, so you might as well be happy. (I'm not sure that's true, as people DO care, but you really must make the most of things.)

Whether you think that you can, or that you can't, you are usually right. Henry Ford (Best thing Henry ever said!)

The price of inaction is far greater than the cost of making a mistake. - Meister Eckhart (I'm not so sure about this either, but it's not a bad general principle.)

Loving someone means you should be ready to experience heartache and happiness at the same time.

The amount of fear in your life shows the extent to which you are in agreement with the enemy of your soul.

And last but not least....
I drank all the beer in the fridge because of a power outage. Tracey said it wouldn't spoil, but that's a risk I wasn't willing to take!

  1. I don't understand this one: 'The amount of fear in your life shows the extent to which you are in agreement with the enemy of your soul.'

  3. Elise: it sure can when there's a mouse around - but yes, I don't think you can take any chances with such delicacies....

Zoe: yes, that's why I said they were worth pondering. Sometimes these things are put up as if they are proverbs containing absolute truth, when I think they're just worth musing on.

With the one you mentioned I think there's a problem with the word 'soul'. It can be seen as narrowly religious or can have a more general meaning. I can't find out who said this so I don't know their idea of it. It makes more sense to me if 'soul' is thought of as 'being' but here were come back to the interminable but vital problem of words and what they mean to each person. Maybe my other philosophical friends have some ideas. I'll return to this!

  4. Why is it that the moment you hit the 'Post Comment' button you spot the typo? '...here were...' = '...here we...' .of course. But I wanted to add this anyway, because just to complicate matters a little bit more, we get this fascinating article:

You'll need to copy it and paste it into a browser window....

  5. Right ,That's it. No more comments written in Google account. They insist on having my mobile phone number and since I won't give it, I lose the lot. Yes I know I should've copied and pasted.

Boohoo! I liked what I wrote!!

Some iPads simply refuse to post responses. I have no idea why, but be aware of this.
